The Summerville Union High School District Board of Education and Superintendent Robert Griffith would like to announce the selection Michael Merrill as the new superintendent. Mr. Merrill will be formally approved at the June 27th school board meeting with his first day of employment being July 16th. The Board of Education made its decision with input gathered from key stakeholder groups in the District regarding the qualities desired in the next District leader.

Based on the feedback received from our parents, staff, and community members, we were looking for someone who is a collaborative, energetic leader who values our accomplishments and wants to continue our efforts to provide the quality education our students deserve and our families expect. We wanted someone who is committed to the students, families, staff and community of Summerville Union High School District. After a rigorous screening and interview process, Mr. Merrill was chosen as the best fit.

Mr. Merrill comes to Summerville from Calaveras High School. While at Calaveras High School, Mr. Merrill began as science teacher, advancing to assistant principal, then assistant superintendent of fiscal services, and onto his most recent assignment as principal.

The Summerville Union High School Board of Education is excited about the selection of Mr. Mike Merrill as superintendent and looks forward to working together in providing an outstanding education for our students well into the future.
